How to Develop a Growth Mindset in Order to Achieve Your Goals. Developing a Growth Mindset is paramount to your success. It’s important to realize that there are always obstacles that stand in the way of our ability to grow as humans, and if we don’t know how to handle setbacks in our own lives then, we either give up or keep trying harder.

Let’s look at  ways to develop a more productive Growth Mindset so that you can do whatever it takes for what you want “Mind your business,” I always tell people (and have to remind myself), “because your mind is your business.” I know, it’s clever.

That is to say, true success begins with your mindset. A growth mindset will improve your finances, relationships, career, and everything else in your life. Now, I understand that everyone is born into different levels of opportunity, and you have no control over that, but I truly believe that having a growth mindset is the key to making the most of whatever situation you’ve been given.

So, what exactly is a growth mindset? and how to create one.

What Exactly Is a Growth Mindset ?

A growth mindset is the belief that with time and effort, you can learn, change, and improve. People with a growth mindset build the strength to overcome challenges rather than giving up because they believe they lack the necessary skills. The polar opposite of a growth mindset is known as a fixed mindset.

People with a fixed mindset believe that success (or failure) is determined by permanent qualities, circumstances, and character traits over which they have no control and I believe Eeyore is their spirit animal.

How to Develop a Growth Mindset

They believe, whether they realize it or not, that they were born with certain characteristics, such as intelligence, shyness, talent, or a hot temper, and that there is no way to improve or adjust. They go through life making decisions based on those beliefs, which can be detrimental in the long run. Pessimism always triumphs in a fixed mindset.

Here are some examples of growth mindset vs. fixed mindsets :

“I’ll never figure out how to do this.” “I’m not very bright.”

“I may not know how to do this right now, but I’m going to research it and figure it out.”

“I don’t have to prepare for this job interview.” They’ll hire me because I’m good at marketing.”

“I’m going to spend time preparing and giving it my all, so that even if I don’t get hired, I’ll know I gave it my all.”

“Being in debt is just a part of adulthood.” Everyone has student loan and car payment obligations.”

Growth: “I don’t have to live in debt if I’m disciplined and wise with my money.”

“Everyone in my family has divorced, so I’ll probably end up divorced as well.”

“Nobody is perfect,” says the author, “but I’m going to work hard on this relationship and do everything I can to have a healthy marriage.”

Do you notice a difference? This mindset thing is something that we all need to work on, including myself. Let’s be honest: The fact that you’re reading this article indicates that you’re already willing to grow. Yes, please! That is the initial step. Here are a few things you can do to cultivate a growth mindset in all aspects of your life

Redirect negative thoughts :

when you notice yourself becoming stuck in a fixed mindset about something, take a moment to rephrase your thought or statement. The word yet can be very useful in this situation. “I’m not married yet,” you could say, or “I’m not debt-free yet.”There are many brainy, science-y facts that go along with this, such as how controlling your thoughts changes the cells in your brain and other such things.

Nobody has time to go into all of that, but the studies are available if you want to read them. Essentially, the most important thing to understand is that if you put in the effort, you can train your brain to think differently, and it will become easier and easier as time passes.


Fail more:

Yes, I am aware. It sounds strange. Why would you want to fail even more?

For one simple reason: failing ten times makes you ten times better. That’s how the game works. Because those who quit after failing are no longer available to compete. “The person who fails the most wins,” Seth Godin says succinctly. It takes a lot of suck to get good at guitar, design, writing, and cooking. if you suck less and less and less over time… until one day you’re an overnight success. Try. Fail. Repeat.

The more you can try new things and set goals that scare the hell out of you, the more you’ll grow. And the more confidence you’ll gain as you realize you can fail without ruining your entire life, and you can actually overcome challenges.

“What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger,” said the great philosopher Kelly Clarkson.

Here’s the truth: People with a fixed mindset are afraid of failure because it makes them feel inferior. But if you avoid failure like the plague—or, I don’t know… a contagious pandemic-level disease—you’ll never win at anything. So, basically, the only way to avoid failure is to continue to embrace failure. Consider that as you attempt to sleep tonight.

Reading not only helps you learn more information, but sitting down and reading an actual book (rather than scrolling through your Instagram feed) helps keep your mind sharp.

Instead of the dopamine rush and instant gratification of social media, your brain is slowing down, learning patience, and working to imagine all kinds of things about the book’s contents. Choose topics that interest you and make a reading goal for yourself, even if it’s just one book every couple of months.

Podcasts should be listened to.

By smarter relationships, I don’t mean you should seek out friends with higher IQs (although that might be a good idea too).

I’m talking about seriously considering the type of person you want to be, then assessing whether your relationships are assisting you in becoming that person or dragging you down.

I’m talking about all kinds of relationships, not just romantic ones.

If you’ve realized that some relationships in your life aren’t healthy or helping you grow, it may be time to let them go. I’m not saying you should cut everyone out of your life who isn’t “serving” you, but it’s a good idea to set boundaries with anyone who has a history of negatively impacting you.

And while we’re on the subject, make sure you’re also being a good friend. Avoid gossiping and complaining by making an effort to lift up and encourage the people in your life.

Remove yourself from social media Can Help Growth Mindset :

I’m not going to criticize social media because that would be hypocritical of me. As much as the next guy, I enjoy sharing amusing memes and photos of my adorable French bulldog. But, as we all know, social media can have negative consequences, such as comparison, jealousy, and seeking validation from people you barely know.

That’s why, every now and then, I take a break and stop posting on all of my social media accounts—and you guys, it brings so much clarity and energy back into my life. whenever you’ve never done a detox or even a one-day break from social media, give it a shot! Use that time to read, do something creative, connect with friends in person, pray, or do anything else that will help your mind recharge.

For me, that could mean playing guitar, having a game night with friends, or going on a hike with my wife. You never know what kind of good ideas you might have while taking a break from wishing you had a tropical vacation or huge biceps like that one person you met at a party once. Stop being such a fool. Your biceps are fine, and that guy works out at the gym. You don’t want to live at the gym, do you?

Looking up to and learning from others is an important part of development. Find someone who is doing what you want to do and living how you want to live, and simply ask if they’d be open to meeting up for coffee once in a while to hang out and talk.

If you don’t have in-person access to the types of people you want to learn from, remember that you can always learn from their content online.

Look for people around you who might need some guidance and would like you to mentor them. It’s extremely rewarding to be able to pour into someone else and give them the advice you wish someone had given you.

Seek therapy (even if you’re healthy).

when you need assistance shifting your mindset from fixed to growth, or if you simply want someone to check in and talk things through with you, therapy and counseling are excellent resources.

I strongly advocate for going to counseling even if you believe your life is going well and you have no “issues.” Mental health is important, you guys, and a good counselor will help you discover things you didn’t even realize you needed to work on.

At the end of the day, one of the best things you can do to improve your mindset is to have fun. For me, that will be watching stand-up comedy with great friends.

For you, it could be a round of golf, a glass of wine, or cranking up the volume and jamming to the new Taylor Swift (or old Taylor, either way, it’s all fire).

True success does not take itself too seriously. I mean, I don’t, and I’m at best marginally successful. Consider this: if you don’t take time to relax and enjoy yourself, all of your efforts to become the best version of yourself may leave you exhausted. And you deserve better!

Listen, I know it’s difficult to break free from a fixed mindset and develop a growth mindset, but I know you can do it. You are capable of accomplishing difficult tasks. Made it through middle school.

You got through your first breakup. made it to 2020. And you made it through this video. Congratulations. You’re on your way. They are afraid of failing because they know it will bring them one step closer to their goal.
